As Japan’s capital was moved to Heian-Kyo (Kyoto) in 794, artists and garden makers started to avert their focus from Chinese Taoism and devoted their efforts to developing art that would reflect their own culture. The diffused plastic domes are about 2 1/two feet across, and make excellent garden cloches. We have a few wet spots in the existing yard that we’ve identified as rain garden spots. I have a Chinese garden of sorts with flowers that are not so widespread in China, but are ones I really like. I will appreciate them opening up indoors, then can plant the bulbs in the garden come fall. Cleveland has a quite fine children’s garden inside, the Hershey’s Children’s Garden.
And the lamb’s ear, Stachys byzantina, that shows up all through the garden, wherever it decides it must be. I last saw him at six.30am that day – I have been told of a cat being hit by a vehicle two hours later that very same day, but the council assure me that wasn’t him!!
